NARAIL, Nov 20, 2023 (BSS) - A total of 9,600 small and marginal farmers in Sadar upazila will get seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agriculture incentive under the incentive and rehabilitation programme for the cultivation of high-yielding Ufshi varieties of Boro paddy in the current season.
Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Deepak Kumar Roy inaugurated the incentive distribution function as the chief guest, held at the Sadar Upazila Parishad Agriculture Office premises this morning with Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sharmin Akhter in the chair.
Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Roknuzzaman, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Enamul Haque and Sadar Upazila DAE Officer, among others, spoke.
To increase the interest of farmers in high-yielding Ufshi varieties of Boro paddy cultivation, the amount of incentive support has been increased, Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Roknuzzaman said.
He said that each farmer will get five kg of high-yielding ufshi varieties of Boro paddy seeds and two kg of hybrid Boro Paddy seeds, 10 kg of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and 10 kg of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer free of cost for Boro paddy cultivation on one bigha of land.
