Seedbed being prepared for Boro farming in Naogaon

NAOGAON, Dec 28, 2023 (BSS) - Seedbeds are being prepared by the farmers to produce healthy seedlings for Boro farming in all eleven upazilas of the district this season.

Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said 1,91,425 hectares of land would be brought under Boro paddy cultivation this year.

The DAE has set a target to prepare seedbed on 9,580 hectares of land to produce Boro paddy seedlings. Now, the farmers are passing a busy time preparing the seedbeds on low lands, Deputy Director of DAE Abul Kalam Azad said.

He said, 930 hectares of land in Sadar upazila, 960 hectares in Raninagar upazila, 945 hectares in Atrai upazila, 585 hectares in Badalgachi upazila, 1,415 hectares in Mohadevpur upazila, 980 hectares in Patnitala upazila, 940 hectares in Dhamoirhat upazila, 295 hectares in Sapahar upazila, 410 hectares in Porsha upazila, 990 hectares in Manda upazila and 1,130 hectares in Niamatpur upazila of the district are being prepared to produce Boro paddy seedlings.

Necessary training and materials are being provided to farmers to make Boro cultivation successful in the district, he added.
