TUNGIPARA, Gopalganj, April 8, 2024 (BSS) - A total of 1,000 small and marginal farmers in Sadar upazila of the district were given seeds and fertilizers as agricultural incentives under the incentive programme free of cost for Aush paddy cultivation in the current Kharif-1 season.
To increase the interest of farmers in Aush paddy cultivation, the amount of incentive support and the number of farmers have increased significantly in the district, Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Mahfuza Akhter said.
Additional Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Sanjay Kumar Kundu inaugurated the distribution function and handed over the seeds and fertilizers to the farmers as the honorable guest, held on Sadar Upazila Parishad premises this morning with Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohsin Uddin in the chair.
Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Mahfuza Akhter, Deputy Assistant Plant Conservation Officer Md Liakat Hossain, Deputy Agriculture Officers Bhaskar Barai, Sajal Kumar Bhadra and Pranjal Nag, among others, were present.
Sources said five kgs of Aush paddy seeds, 10 kgs of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and 10 kgs of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer were given to each farmer free of cost for Aush paddy cultivating on one bigha of land among 1,000 farmers of the district.
