MAGURA, April 18, 2024 (BSS) - A total of 1,900 small and marginal farmers in Sadar upazila of the district will get seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agricultural incentive under the incentive and rehabilitation programme for the cultivation of Ufshi Aush in the current Kharif-1 season.
To increase the interest of farmers in Ufshi Aush cultivation, the amount of incentive support has been increased significantly in the district, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Dr Md Yasin Ali said.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Abu Naser Beg inaugurated the distribution function and handed over the seeds and fertilizers to some farmers as the chief guest on Sadar Upazila Parishad premise this afternoon with Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Mizanur Rahman in the chair.
Deputy Director Dr. Md. Yasin Ali, Additional Deputy Director agriculturist Prakash Chandra Sarkar, Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Humayun Kabir, among others, spoke on the occasion.
DAE officials said that each farmer will get five kgs of Ufshi Aush seed, 10 kgs of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and five kgs of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer free of cost for cultivating Ufshi Aush on one bigha of land.
Rest of the seeds and fertilizers will be distributed very soon under the concerned Upazila Agriculture Office, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Dr Md Yasin Ali said.
