DINAJPUR, Nov 11, 2024 (BSS) - A total of 39,700 small and marginal farmers in 13 upazilas of the district will get seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agricultural incentive under the Incentive and Rehabilitation Programme for the cultivation of wheat, maize, mustard, onion and sunflower in Rabi season this year.
To increase the interest of farmers in Rabi crops including wheat, maize, mustard, onion, and sunflower cultivation, the amount of incentive support has been increased significantly in the district, Deputy Director of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) of the district Md. Nuruzzaman Mia said.
Livestock Officer of Hakimpur upazila Md. Shafiul Islam inaugurated the distribution function as the chief guest at a function held in the hall room of DAE office of the upazila with marginal farmer of the upazila Amit Roy in the chair.
DAE Officer of the upazila Md. Mesbahul Rahman, Upazila Rural Development Officer Md. Golam Rabbani and Hakimpur Press Club President Md. Zahidul Islam Zahid, among others, spoke as special guests.
In Hakimpur upazila, a total of one kilogram of high-yielding mustard seeds, 10 kilograms of DAP and 10 kilograms of MOP fertilizer were distributed each among 1,800 farmers.
Twenty kilograms of wheat seeds, 10 kilograms of DAP and 10 kilograms of MOP fertilizer were distributed each farmer among 70 farmers.
Two kilograms of maize, 20 kilograms of DAP and 10 kilograms of MOP fertilizer were distributed among 300 farmers,
Besides, one kilogram of sunflower seeds, 10 kilograms of DAP and 10 kilograms of MOP fertilizer were distributed among 20 farmers.
One kilogram of winter onion seeds, 10 kilograms of DAP and 10 kilograms of MP fertilizer were also distributed among 20 farmers.
Rest of the farmers will get seeds and fertilizers very soon, sources said.
