NAOGAON, Dec 18, 2024 (BSS) - Farmers are passing their busy times for
transplantation of Boro rice seedlings on their farm lands in all the 11
upazilas of the district during the current season.
Officials of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) said the DAE has
set a target to cultivate Boro on 1,92,920 hectares of land with the
production target of 8,72,530 tonnes of rice in the district.
Of the total land, 19,450 hectares would be brought under hybrid variety and
1,73,470 hectares of land would be brought under high yielding variety, Abul
Kalam Azad said, deputy director of the DAE.
Farmers have prepared seedbeds on 3,250 hectares of land to produce Boro
paddy seedlings.
The government has provided agricultural incentives to small and marginal
farmers of the district to make them capable to run Boro cultivation without
facing any problem.
Of the total land, 18,580 hectares would be brought under Boro paddy
cultivation in Sadar upazila, 1,800 hectares in Raninagar upazila, 18,820
hectares in Atrai upazila, 11,655 hectares in Badalgachi upazila, 28,255
hectares in Mohadevpur upazila, 19,480 hectares in Patnitala upazila, 18,755
hectares in Dhamoirhat upazila, 5,855 hectares in Sapahar upazila, 9,845
hectares in Porsha upazila, 19,685 hectares in Manda upazila and 23,190
hectares of land would be brought under the cultivation in Niamatpur upazila
of the district.
