GAZIPUR, Feb 24, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute 
(BARI) organized a field demonstration on the breeding seed production 
technique of BARI-4 onion variety here today.

A total of 80 male and female farmers from different upazilas of the district 
have participated in the programme, said a BARI press release today.

BARI's Director (Research) Dr Munshi Rashid Ahmad attended the programme as 
the chief guest while former chief scientific officer (CSO) and project 
director on "strengthening research of spices related crops in Bangladesh 
project" Dr Sylendranath Majumder spoke as special guest.

Principal Scientific Officer (PSO) of regional spice research center Dr 
Muhammad Masudul Huq presided over the function.

Senior scientists from different division and centers of BARI, among others, 
attended the function.

At the programme, the onion farmers exchanged their views on various issues 
including farming problems, success and future planning.

A project titled "Programme on Agricultural and Rural Transformation for 
Nutrition, Entrepreneurship and Resilience in Bangladesh" financed the 
programme.
