KHULNA, March 27, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 2, 62,397 hectares of land were brought under Boro cultivation in the Khulna zone in this season.
Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) in Khulna zone sources said, a total of 2, 58,000 hectares of land would be brought under Boro paddy cultivation with a target of producing 11, 67,004 tonnes of the Boro rice.
Additional Director of DAE in Khulna Zone Md Rafiqul Islam told BSS that farmers already exceeded the cultivation target on 4,397 hectares of land expecting the production target will increase by more than 1,956 tonnes of rice.
In Khulna, DAE set a target for those farmers to cultivate 64,950 hectares of land including Hybrid Boro paddy on 43,400 hectares, Ufshi on 21,550 hectares targeting a production of Hybrid 2, 17, 000 tonnes and Ufshi 86,200 tonnes.
Farmers planted High-Yielding Variety on 65,536 hectares of land including Hybrid on 46,450 hectares and Ufshi on 19,086 hectares of land.
In Bagerhat, DAE set a target for those farmers to cultivate 62,970 hectares of land including Hybrid Boro paddy on 55,550 hectares, Ufshi on 7,270 hectares and local variety on 150 hectares targeting a production of Hybrid 2,73,862 tonnes, Ufshi 26,608 tonnes and local variety 305 tonnes.
They planted High-Yielding Variety on 65,776 hectares of land including of Hybrid on 59,580 hectares, Ufshi on 6,054 hectares of land and local variety 142 hectares of land.
In Satkhira, DAE set a target for those farmers to cultivate 79,800 hectares of land including Hybrid Boro paddy on 25,000 hectares, Ufshi on 54,800 hectares targeting a production of Hybrid 1, 17,500 tonnes and Ufshi 2, 17,556 tonnes.
They planted High-Yielding Variety on 80,795 hectares including Hybrid on 25,185 hectares and Ufshi on 55,610 hectares of land.
In Narail, DAE set a target those farmers to cultivate 50,280 hectares of land including of Hybrid Boro paddy on 28,720 hectares, Ufshi on 21,560 hectares targeting a production of Hybrid 1, 41,302 tonnes and Ufshi 86,671 tonnes.
They planted High-Yielding Variety on 50,290 hectares including Hybrid on 28,720 hectares and Ufshi on 21,570 hectares of land.
Md Rafiqul Islam also told BSS, "Farmers completed cultivation on time due to the availability of Boro seedlings, fertilizers, and other agricultural inputs."
He expected that Boro cultivation already has exceeded the target and production will also exceed by around 2,000 tonnes.
