Magura, April 9, 2025 (BSS) - Free seeds and fertilizers have been distributed to 1,680 jute and 1,250 aus rice farmers in Magura Sadar Upazila aiming to increase crop production.
Magura Sadar Upazila Agriculture Office organized the seeds and fertilizers distribution program as part of the 2024-25 fiscal year's Kharif-1 season agricultural incentive initiative held at the office premises.
Magura Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Mohammad Hasibul Hasan addressed the function as chief guest, while Upazila Agriculture Officer Mr. Mohammad Humayun Kabir presided over the event.
In his speech, the chief guest highlighted the government's farmer-friendly policies, stating that numerous initiatives have been taken to uplift the agricultural community.
"The positive outcomes of these policies are now evident at the grassroots level," he said, adding that this incentive program is more than just a distribution-it symbolizes the government's unwavering support for the country's farmers.
Emphasizing the significance of jute and aus rice cultivation in the region, Upazila Agriculture Officer Mr. Mohammad Humayun Kabir encouraged farmers to adopt modern agricultural techniques to boost productivity.
As part of the incentive program, 1,680 jute farmers were provided 1,680 bighas of land, each receiving 1 kg of jute seed, 5 kg of DAP fertilizer and 5 kg of MOP fertilizer.
Additionally, 1,250 aus rice farmers were provided with assistance for 1,250 bighas, each receiving 5 kg of rice seed, 10 kg of DAP, and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer.
The event was attended by farmer representatives and local dignitaries.
