MANIKGANJ, April 28, 2025 (BSS) - Farmers in Manikganj district are expecting a bumper yield of Boro paddy due to the timely availability of agricultural inputs such as seeds and fertilizers, along with favorable weather.
According to the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), farmers in the district cultivated Boro paddy on 48,895 hectares of land across all seven upazilas during the season, with a production target of 2,50,159 metric tons of rice.
Farmers also cultivated Boro paddy on the riverbeds of the Padma, Jamuna, Dhaleshwari, and Kaliganga rivers.
Dr. Robiah Noor Ahmed, Deputy Director of the DAE, said farmers are expecting a good yield as favorable weather conditions have prevailed throughout the district.
To ensure the success of the cultivation, necessary measures were taken to supply quality seeds, fertilizers, insecticides, and other agricultural inputs to farmers on time at fair prices, alongside ensuring uninterrupted power supply by the Power Development Board (PDB) and the Rural Electrification Board (REB), said an official of the DAE.
