JAMALPUR, Dec 30, 2021 (BSS) - Farmers of the district are happy getting
bumper production of Transplanted Aman (T-Aman) this year.
 
     Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said a total of
3,06,361 tonnes of T-Aman rice was produced in the district exceeding the
production target. This year 17,020 tonnes additional T-Aman paddy was
produced than the last year's production.
 
     The DAE office sources said due to favourable weather and availability
of agricultural input farmers got additional production this year.
 
     Farmers cultivated three varieties of T-Aman like High-Breed, High
Yielding Variety and local variety. After harvesting farmers got 82,237
tonnes of High Breed variety, 2,03,463 tonnes of High Yielding Variety and
20,661 tonnes of local variety.
 
     Of the total production, 85,860 tonnes was produced in Jamalpur Sadar
upazila, 43,040 tonnes in Sarishabari, 47,378 tonnes in Melandah, 24,170
tonnes in Islampur, 20,778 tonnes in Dewanganj, 42,574 tonnes in Madarganj
and 42,561 tonnes in Bakshiganj upazila.
 
     Samiul Haque Shamim, a farmer of Daudpur village in Melandah upazila,
said he cultivated T-Aman on 10 bighas of land and got bumper production of
the paddy.
 
     Deputy Director of DAE Nitai Chandra Banik said due to favorable weather
farmers are getting good yield of Aman paddy this year.
