Farmers busy with boro-cultivation in C'nawabganj

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Feb 2, 2022 (BSS) - Farmers are passing busy time planting Boro seedlings in their lands in the district.

Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) office here said a total of 49,400 hectares of land has been brought under Boro cultivation during the current Boro season.

Boro paddy would be cultivated on 12,100 hectares of land in sadar upazila, 7,050 hectares in Shibganj upazila, 16,200 hectares in Gomostapur upazila, 8,200 hectares in Nachole upazila and 5,850 hectares in Bholahat upazila, it said.
 
A total of 2, 20,390 metric tonnes of rice has been targeted to be produced in the district.

Deputy Director of DAE Md. Nazrul Islam said there is sufficient stock of fertilizer in the district and proper arrangement was taken for irrigation.

Farmers are going on plantation in full swing with much enthusiasm as they are getting fair prices of their products, he added.
