34,412 irrigation machineries being used for Boro rice fields in Netrakona

 Netrakona Feb 11, 2022 (BSS)-Boro cultivators are using a total of 38,412

irrigation machineries for irrigating waters to their Boro rice fields in ten
upazilas under the district during the current Robi season.

  Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said here, the
government has supplied the irrigation machineries through Bangladesh
Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC).    

  Of the total irrigation machineries, 367 deep tube wells, 30,577 shallow
tube wells, 4,066 low-lift pumps and other 3,402 small pumps are being used
for irrigation purpose.    

   The government has ensured un-interrupted supply of electricity through
Power Development Board (PDB) and Rural Electrification Board (REB) to keep
all the irrigation machineries of the farmers operative round the clock.    

   Apart from this, the government has also ensured proper supply of diesel
to the door-steps of the Boro cultivators to keep diesel engine -run tube
wells operative.

  Deputy director (DD) of DAE Netrakona FM Mubarak Ali told BSS here that
meanwhile, the farmers completed transplantation of Boro seedlings on
1,83,675 hectors out of the total targeted 1,84,575 hectors of land.    

   Deputy commissioner (DC) Netrakona Kazi Mohammad Abdur Rahman told BSS
that the government has taken many farmers-friendly steps including ensuring
un-interrupted supply of electricity, diesel and fertilizers and distribution
of Boro crops loan to the door-steps of the Boro cultivators.    

   "Netrakona district administration has already issued necessary
instructions to the upazila nirbahi officers and upazila -level agricultural
officers for closely monitoring the Boro cultivation in the district so that
the Boro cultivators could get proper supply of electricity, diesel.
fertilizers and other irrigation and agricultural equipment easily without
facing any problem", the DC added.
