JAMALPUR, July 11, 2021 (BSS) – Farmers in the district have begun T-Aman (Transplanted Aman) cultivation in full swing as the agriculture department has a target to bring over one lakh hectares of land during this current Kharip-2 season.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has fixed the target of producing 2,92,134 metric tons of rice in seven upazilas of the district this year from 1,07,960 hectares of land.
DAE office sources said of the total target 30,307 hectares of land in Jamalpur Sadar upazila, 15,034 hectares in Sarishabari upazila, 9,762 hectares in Islampur upazila, 16,451 in Melandah upazila, 8,554 hectares in Dewanganj upazila, 13,348 hectares in Bakshiganj upazila and 14,504 hectares in Madarganj upazila.
DAE has fixed the target of producing 1,93,365 tonnes of high yielding variety rice from 70,700 hectares of land, 69971 tonnes of high breed variety from 18,560 hectares and 28,798 tonnes of local variety from 18,700 hectares of land.
Farmers prepared T- Aman seed bed on 3,000 hectares of land.
Training officer of DAE Zakia Sultana said incentive on T-Aman cultivation was disbursed among 7,500 farmers in the district to increase the food production.
