3,920 farmers getting agri-incentives in Gangachara upazila

RANGPUR, Nov 14, 2022 (BSS) - The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) launched a distribution program of special agriculture incentives in terms of seeds and fertilisers among 3,920 small and marginal farmers of Gangachara upazila on Sunday.

The program was launched in a function arranged at Gangachara Upazila Agriculture Office premises to distribute the incentives to small and marginal farmers and assist them in cultivating winter crops during the current (2022-2023) Rabi season.  

Gangachara Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ershad Uddin inaugurated the program through distributing the incentives among beneficiary farmers in the function as the chief guest with Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Md. Shariful Islam in the chair.

Additional Upazila Agriculture Officer of the upazila Agriculturist Sharmin Sultana, Agriculture Extension Officer Agriculturist AKM Faridul Haque, Plant Protection Officer Agriculturist Md. Habibur Rahman, other officials and beneficiary farmers were present.  

Under the program, 880 small and marginal farmers of all nine upazilas of the upazila will get 20-kg of wheat seeds each, 780 farmers will get two-kg of maize seeds each and 2,100 farmers will get one-kg of mustard seeds each.

Besides, 50 farmers will get one-kg of sunflower seeds, 80 farmers will get 10-kg of groundnut seeds and 30 farmers will get one-kg of onion seeds.

In addition to this, each of the beneficiary 3,920 farmers of the upazila will receive 10-kg of Muriate of Potash and 10-kg of Di-ammonium Phosphate fertilisers to cultivate different winter crops during the current Rabi season.  

On the occasion, the chief guest urged beneficiary farmers to make best use of the cost-free incentives allocated by the government and cultivate different crops to increase agricultural production for ensuring national food security.
