DHAKA, Jan 23, 2023 (BSS) - After witnessing a downward trend in the last session, stocks today rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.
After witnessing volatility, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 7.57 points or 0.12 per cent to settle at 6,263.51. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 7.37 points to finish at 2,211.72 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 4.50 points to close at 1,365.17.
However, daily trade turnover plunged to Tk 5,096.28 million on the country's premier bourse which was Tk 6,927.56 million at the previous session of the week.
Out of 352 issues traded, 34 advanced, 143 declined and 175 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
GENEXIL dominated the turnover chart, closely followed by AAMRANET, MEGHNALIFE, GEMINISEA and BPML.
MONOSPOOL was the day's top gainer, rising 8.44 per cent, while METROSPIN was the worst loser, shedding 5.34 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -gaining 2.77 points to settle at 18,457.04 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX rising 4.05 points to close at 11,063.17.
Of the issues traded, 73 declined, 28 advanced and 72 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city's bourse traded 18 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Tk 8.57 crore.
