DHAKA, Feb 20, 2023 (BSS) – Japan provides nearly 30 million US dollars grant aid for 2 projects on technical education and governance management sectors.
Economic Relation Division (ERD) Secretary Sharifa Khan and Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Iwama Kiminori signed two Exchange of Notes on their respective sides, a press release issued by the Japanese embassy here said.
Among the grants, around 7.7 million US dollars would be provided for the “Project for Improvement of Equipment for Technical Education” while about 21 million US dollars to be disbursed for the development of Bangladesh Institute of Governance and Management(BIGM).
The grant for the “Project for Improvement of Equipment for Technical Education” is to provide training equipment in the field of electrical, electronic, mechanical and computer to the Dhaka Polytechnic Institute, Dhaka Mohila Polytechnic Institute, and Technical Teachers Training College.
The additional grant for BIGM is to construct new facilities and to procure equipment for the training of senior administrative officials and for policy research at BIGM.
“These (projects) are particularly essential (for Bangladesh) toward graduation from the least developed countries (LDC) status in 2026 and to become a developed country by 2041.” said Ambassador Iwama.
