DHAKA, Aug 25, 2021 (BSS) - The government today approved two separate proposals for procuring some 60,000 metric tons of bulk prield urea fertilizer and bulk granular urea fertilizer in a bid to meet the local demand.
The approvals came from the 29th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) this year held today virtually with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair.
Briefing reporters after the meeting virtually, the Finance Minister said that the day's CCGP meeting approved a total of four proposals.
He said the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) under the Industries Ministry will procure some 30,000 metric tons of bulk prield urea fertilizer from Muntajat, Qatar under the 2nd lot through state agreement with around Taka 117.66 crore.
Kamal said BCIC under the Ministry of Industries will procure another 30,000 metric tons of bulk granular urea fertilizer from Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), Saudi Arabia with around Taka 117.44 crore.
Following a proposal from the Ministry of CHT Affairs, he said the government would procure some 40,000 solar home system having capacity of 100 watt peak and some 2,500 solar community system having capacity of 320 watt peak from Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory Limited with around Taka 204.33 crore.
The day's CCGP meeting gave nod to another proposal from the National Curriculum and Textbooks Board (NCTB) under the Secondary and Higher Education Division for printing, binding and supplying of some 1,68,30,971 copies of textbook of various classes from six bidding firms with around Taka 59.37 crore.
Joining the briefing virtually, Cabinet Division Additional Secretary Md Shamsul Arefin said that the meeting decided to re-tender the bid for procuring some 3.95 lakh tabs under the Tablet for CAPI for Main Census package under the Population and Housing Census 2021 project to collect data and information for the census billed for October 25-31, 2021.
