DHAKA, Aug 26, 2021 (BSS) - Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC)
Mayor Md Atiqul Islam today said that no trade license to be issued to
any shop or shopping mall without having fire safety measures.

   "If there is no fire-safety measures, the concerned shop or
shopping mall will be closed down," he told a seminar titled "Fire
Safety: What We Should Do?" at Nagar Bhaban in city's Gulshan area.

  He said Dhaka North City Corporation has, so far, issued 3,80,000
trade licenses. Every shop, shopping mall and commercial building
should be operated in compliance with the importance of public safety,
he added.

   He urged all to play due roles from their respective positions to
build a safe city.

   Prime Minister's Private Sector Industry and Investment Adviser
Salman F Rahman, MP, also spoke as a keynote speaker.

  With DNCC Chief Executive Officer Md Selim Reza in the chair, it was
attended, among others, by Bangladesh Investment Development Authority
(BIDA) Chairman Sirazul Islam, President of the Federation of
Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Md Jashim Uddin,
RAJUK Chairman ABM Amin Ullah Nuri, Director General of the Fire
Service and Civil Defence Department Brig Gen Md Sajjad Hossain and
Bangladesh Shop Owners Association President Mohammad Helal Uddin.
