DHAKA, July 17, 2023 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - today plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 6.26 points or 0.09 percent to 6,361.16. Two other indices also ended lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 2.53 points to finish at 2,200.36 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 0.53 point to close at 1,386.77.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Taka 9,327.15 million, which was 9,337.54 million at the previous session of the week.
Out of 368 issues traded, 83 declined, 116 advanced and 169 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
FUWANGFOOD topped the turnover chart, followed by KBPPWIL, RDFOOD, ORIONINFU and LRBDL.
MIDLANDBNK was the day's top gainer, posting 10 percent gain while FUWANGFOOD was the worst loser, losing 8.05 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -losing 6.17 points to settle at 18,784.66 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX shedding 1.98 points to close at 11,223.32.
Of the issues traded, 80 declined, 65 advanced and 69 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.
