Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

DHAKA, Nov 2, 2023 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)-- today plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 5.82 points or 0.09 percent to 6,267.90. Two other indices also ended lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 0.24 point to finish at 2,133.74 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 1.24 point to close at 1,359.18.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, increased to Taka 4,430.63 million which was Taka 3,722.74 million at the previous session of the week.

Out of 313 issues traded, 84 declined, 56 advanced and 173 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

FUWANGFOOD topped the turnover chart, followed by Emerald Oil, SEAPEARL, ORIONINFU and MIRACLEIND.

Aziz Pipes was the day's top gainer, posting 9.96 percent gain while MONNOAGML was the worst loser, losing 22.82 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -losing 23.35 points to settle at 18,573.03 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX- shedding 10.54 points to close at 11,108.95.

Of the issues traded, 48 declined, 33 advanced and 69 issues remained unchanged on the CSE trading floor.

The port city's bourse traded 29.41 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value worth about Taka 12 crore.
