DHAKA, Nov 25, 2023 (BSS) - The GSEA semi-final of the Global Student Entrepreneurs Awards (GSEA), organized by Bangladesh Chapter of the Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO), was held at Six Seasons Hotel in the capital today.
The competition is giving opportunities to the young entrepreneurs to join the global platforms.
The Global Student Entrepreneurs Awards (GSEA) is the world's largest annual award programme of student entrepreneurs who own and run businesses while attending college or university and have the opportunity to compete with competitors from 76 countries around the world.
A total of 25 student entrepreneurs from Bangladesh applied to participate in this year's GSEA competition. Out of these, 9 student entrepreneurs got the opportunity to participate in the semi-final and they presented their business models.
Sadat Omi, Chair of the GSEA Bangladesh Chapter and also the Director of Elson Consumer Products Ltd, inaugurated the semi-final program.
Zareen Mahmud Hossain, former President of EO Bangladesh and also Director of the Shasha Denim Ltd, Amer Salim, Director of Knit Asia Ltd, and Shohag Chandra Das, National Consultant of the iDEA at ICT division, were judges in the semi-final competition.
Md Zia Uddin, President of the EO Bangladesh and also Chairman of Pristine Chem limited, Hossain Khaled, founder President of the organization and also MD of Anwar group, Mike Kazi, former President of the organization and also Chairman of Apex Properties Ltd, Tahsin Aman, founder of Ayat Education, Ahmed Imtiaz Hassan, Director of Aristopharma Ltd, Naffees M Khan, MD of Geers Group, Faatin Haque, Chairman of Trade Design Solution Ltd, among others were also present at the program.
Md Zia Uddin congratulated the student entrepreneur for their effort of choosing to be entrepreneurs and solving social problems. He said that hard work and technological solutions play a key role in making a student an entrepreneur in today's times.
Zareen Mahmud Hossain said, GSEA competition is playing an important role in creating new entrepreneurs in the country. He emphasizes on developing the startup eco-system.
Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO) Bangladesh has been organizing business competition among student entrepreneurs at national level since 2016. Through this, one of the winning entrepreneurs gets an opportunity to compete in the Global Student Entrepreneurs Awards (GSEA) competition.
