DHAKA, Nov 29, 2023 (BSS) - After witnessing a downward trend in the three sessions, stocks today rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.
After witnessing volatility, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 15.72 points or 0.25 per cent to settle at 6,218.54. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 3.97 points to finish at 2,103.36 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 4.68 points to close at 1,351.29.
However, daily trade turnover increased to Tk 3,029.50 million on the country's premier bourse which was Tk 2,972.05 million at the previous session of the week.
Gainers took a strong lead over the losers, as out of 295 issues traded, 123 advanced, 19 declined and 153 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
SEAPEARL dominated the turnover chart, closely followed by FUWANGFOOD, KPPL, MONNOCERA and SONALIANSH.
FUWANGFOOD was the day's top gainer, rising 10 per cent, while JUTESPININ Sea Pearl Beach was the worst loser, shedding 5.02 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -gaining 18.37 points to settle at 18,424.11 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX rising 11.23 points to close at 11,016.95.
Of the issues traded, 21 declined, 53 advanced and 74 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city's bourse traded 33.56 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Taka 7.44 crore.
