DHAKA, Jan 3, 2024 (BSS) - After witnessing a downward trend in the two sessions, stocks today rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.
After witnessing volatility, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 2.65 points or 0.04 per cent to settle at 6,236.07. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 2.24 points to finish at 2,092.13 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 0.85 point to close at 1,361.01.
Out of 329 issues traded, 57 advanced, 92 declined and 180 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
However, daily trade turnover plunged to Taka 2,921.42 million on the country's premier bourse which was Taka 5,168.89 million at the previous session of the week.
STANDARINS dominated the turnover chart, closely followed by SEAPEARL, BDTHAI, OAL and ORIONINFU.
WMSHIPYARD was the day's top gainer, rising 7.89 per cent, while PRIME1ICBA was the worst loser, shedding 9.89 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -gaining 21.23 points to settle at 18,507.46 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX rising 12.57 points to close at 11,067.93.
Of the issues traded, 49 declined, 34 advanced and 75 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city's bourse traded 17.46 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Taka 3.81 crore.
