DHAKA, Jan 16, 2024 (BSS) - Stocks today witnessed upward trend as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising with higher activities of some large-cap securities.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 13.54 points or 0.21 per cent to settle at 6331.61. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 6.45 points to finish at 2,129.77 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 5.66 points to close at 1,382.54.

At DSE, out of the day's 349 securities, prices of 97 securities closed higher against 79 losing issues.

The day's trade value at the DSE increased to Taka 8,008.47 million which was Taka 6,742.73 million at the previous session of the week.
 
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with an upward trend with its major CASPI 39.05 points up at 18,738.57.

At the CSE, 205 issues were traded. Of those, 75 closed higher and 45 closed lower when 27.05 lakh shares worth Taka 9.39 crore changed hands.
