DHAKA, Jan 21, 2024 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange
(DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), today plunged further due to
mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 96.50
points or 1.52 percent to 6,240.25. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also
followed the same trend with 14.12 points down at 1,374.17. But the DSE 30
Index, comprising blue chips, closed the day with 7.48 points up at 2,137.19.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Taka 5,888.70
million, which was Taka 6,371.13 million at the previous session of the week.
Out of 386 issues traded, 296 declined, 54 advanced and 36 remained unchanged
on the DSE trading floor.
BDTHAI topped the turnover chart, followed by ORIONINFU, DESHBANDHU, SEAPEARL
and BRACBANK.
KBPPWBIL was the day's top gainer, posting 9.80 percent gain while DSSL was
the worst loser, losing 10 percent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All
Share Price Index- CASPI- losing 476.92 points to settle at 18,329.44 and the
Selective Categories Index- CSCX- shedding 283.47 points to close at
10,964.12.
Of the issues traded, 158 declined, 41 advanced and 19 issues remained
unchanged on the CSE trading floor.
The port city's bourse traded 33.82 lakh shares and mutual fund units with
turnover value worth about Taka 12.74 crore.
