DHAKA, Jan 22, 2024 (BSS) - After witnessing a downward trend in the two sessions, stocks today rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 10.42 billion on the premier bourse which was Tk 5.89 billion at the previous session of the week.
After witnessing volatility, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 14.05 points or 0.23 per cent to settle at 6,254.31. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 10.46 points to finish at 2,147.65 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 6.59 points to close at 1,380.76.
Out of 392 issues traded, 207 advanced, 146 declined and 39 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
BDTHAI dominated the turnover chart, closely followed by AOI, ORIONINFU, LHBL and KARNAPHULI.
DACCADYE was the day's top gainer, rising 10 per cent, while BBSCABLES was the worst loser, shedding 10 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -losing 93.95 points to settle at 18,235.50 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX losing 50.92 points to close at 10,913.19.
Of the issues traded, 118 declined, 123 advanced and 26 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city's bourse traded 94.28 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Tk 21.82 crore.
