DHAKA, Feb 13, 2024 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)-- today plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 30.12 points or 0.47 percent to 6,394.82. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also closed the day with 2.70 points down to close at 1,391.24. But, the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, closed the day with 5.60 points up at 2,171.53.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Taka 16,464.19 million which was Taka 16931.45 million at the previous session of the week.
Out of 399 issues traded, 296 declined, 65 advanced and 38 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
LOVELLO was the day's top gainer, posting 9.95 percent gain while ICBAGRANI1 was the worst loser, losing 8.60 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -losing 61.09 points to settle at 18,500.41 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX- shedding 35.08 points to close at 11,077.25.
Of the issues traded, 166 declined, 87 advanced and 33 issues remained unchanged on the CSE trading floor.
The port city's bourse traded 1.01 crore shares and mutual fund units with turnover value worth about Taka 24.92 crore.
