DHAKA, Feb 19, 2024 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)-- today plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
The benchmark index DSEX settled 24 points down at 6,258. Two other indices also ended lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 2 points to finish at 2,131.28 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 7.50 points to close at 1,361.32.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Taka 8185.83 million which was Taka 9247.34 million at the previous session of the week.
Among the traded scrips today, 97 showed advancement, 246 experienced a decline, and 51 remained unchanged.
Investors showed heightened interest in Orion Infusion shares, followed by Best Holdings and Fu Wang Ceramic.
PAPERPROC claimed the top position in the list of gainers at the DSE.
Moreover, the port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange, also closed lower, with the All-Share Price Index (CASPI) dropping by 95.96 points to 17,989.86.
