UNDP to extend support in technical, training operations in Bangladesh

DHAKA, March 3, 2024 (BSS) - UNDP Resident Representative for Bangladesh Stefan Liller today said that the UNDP would play a supporting role in Bangladesh's development stride especially in various operations related to LDC graduation.
 
In this regard, he said that the UNDP would extend its support in technical and training operations in Bangladesh.
 
The UNDP resident representative came up with such remarks when he made a courtesy call on State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu at his secretariat office, said a Ministry press release.
 
During the meeting, the state minister said that the government is working to bring in worthy entrepreneurs and products from across the country into the national stage and in the export market.
 
Following the declaration of 'handicrafts' as the product of the year by the Prime Minister, Ahsanul said the government has been working relentlessly centering the handicrafts. "Now the skilled workers of such products and their position will be recognized."
 
Noting that e-commerce is a very important medium in expansion of export, the state minister said that products would be linked with e-commerce alongside the existing market to boost exports.
 
"The government will provide technical and financial support to the entrepreneurs," he added.
 
Commerce Ministry additional secretary Mohammad Navid Shafiullah, UNDP assistant resident representatives Anowar Haque, Sardar M Asaduzzaman, Ministry joint secretary Nahid Afroz and deputy secretary M Rafiqul Islam were present, among others, on the occasion.
