Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

 
DHAKA, March 11, 2024 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - today plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
 
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 16.85 points or 0.28 percent to 6,058.39. Two other indices also ended sharply lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 7.99 points to finish at 2,075.88 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 2.30 points to close at 1,322.65.
 
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, increased to Taka 7541.48 million, which was Taka 4782.60 million at the previous session of the week.
 
Out of 396 issues traded, 163 declined, 174 advanced and 59 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
 
FUWANGCER topped the turnover chart, followed by LOVELLO, ORIONINFU, GOLDENSON and CENTRALPHL.
 
BBS was the day's top gainer, posting 9.94 percent gain while NCCBLMF1 was the worst loser, losing 8.70 per cent.
 
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -losing 33.94 points to settle at 17,387.41 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX shedding 17.61 points to close at 10,440.88.
 
Of the issues traded, 124 declined, 87 advanced and 25 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.
 
The port city's bourse traded 67.90 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value worth about Taka 20.78 crore.
