DHAKA, March 31, 2024 (BSS) - Branches of the scheduled banks in the readymade garments (RMG) industrial areas will remain open on April 5-7 to facilitate payment of garment workers' salary, Eid bonus, allowances and export-import activities.
Bangladesh Bank (BB) today gave the directive to the scheduled banks through a circular.
The central bank has asked banks to continue operation before Eid-ul-Fitr in the branches located near garment industrial areas in Dhaka city, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj and Chattogram ensuring adequate security.
As per the central bank's instruction, the central bank has fixed office hours from 9:30 am to 3:00pm for April 5 and 9.30am to 2.30pm for April 6 and 7.
However, people will be allowed to make banking transactions from 9.30am to 12.30pm on April 5 and from 9.30am to 1pm on April 6 and 7.
For bank staff, there will be a break of 45 minutes from 1pm to 1.45pm on April 5 for Jumma prayer and a break of 15 minutes from 1.15pm to 1.30pm for Zuhr prayers.
