HANOI, April 29, 2024 (BSS/Xinhua) - Vietnam's national index of industrial production advanced 6.3 percent year-on-year in April, the General Statistics Office has said.
The Southeast Asian country's industrial production from January to April increased 6 percent year on year, the office said.
The processing and manufacturing sector, the main driver behind the surge, went up 6.3 percent year-on-year in the first four months of 2024.
The electricity production and distribution sector expanded by 12.3 percent, and the water supply and waste management sector increased by 5.3 percent.
The mineral exploitation sector reported a year-on-year decline of 4.6 percent during the cited period.
The index of industrial production in four months increased in 54 localities nationwide and dropped in nine others, said the office.
