DHAKA, April 30, 2024 (BSS) - After witnessing a downward trend in the last session, stocks today rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.
After witnessing volatility, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 14.96 points or 0.27 per cent to settle at 5,584.65. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 1.31 point to finish at 1,995.31 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 5.72 points to close at 1,227.51.
Out of 395 issues traded, 145 advanced, 204 declined and 46 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
SONALIANSH dominated the turnover chart, closely followed by Malek Spinning Mills, ASIATICLAB, ORIONINFU and ORIONPHARM.
APEXTANRY was the day's top gainer, rising 10 per cent, while PREMIERBAN was the worst loser, shedding 8.27 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -gaining 15 points to settle at 15,953.06 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX rising 10.72 points to close at 9,605.58.
Of the issues traded, 124 declined, 72 advanced and 30 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city's bourse traded 3.27 crore shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Taka 92.74 crore.
