LONDON, May 21, 2024 (BSS/AFP) - European stock markets retreated at the start of trading Tuesday following losses in Asia.

London's FTSE 100 index fell 0.4 percent to 8,389.35 points.

In the eurzone, the Paris CAC 40 index lost 0.5 percent to 8,155.38 points and Frankfurt's DAX shed 0.2 percent to 18,735.08.
