Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

DHAKA, June 5, 2024 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses-- Dhaka Stock
Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- today plunged
due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by
23.16 points or 0.44 percent to 5,224.37. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES)
lost 7.22 points to close at 1,135.52. But, the DSE 30 Index,
comprising blue chips, closed the day 1.82 point down to finish at
1,854.38.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Taka
3,813.41 million which was Taka 5,930.33 million at the previous
session of the week.

Out of 397 issues traded, 247 declined, 98 advanced and 52 remained
unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

AIBL1STIMF was the day's top gainer, posting 6.25 percent gain while
KAY&QUE was the worst loser, losing 3 percent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the
CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -losing 28.11 points to settle at
14,942.83 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX- shedding 19.74
points to close at 8,986.65.

Of the issues traded, 139 declined, 61 advanced and 29 issues remained
unchanged on the CSE.

The port city's bourse traded 80.94 lakh shares and mutual fund units
with turnover value worth about Taka 159.66 crore.
