DHAKA, June 30, 2024 (BSS) - Speakers at a workshop on the implementation of Bangladesh National Digital Architecture (BNDA) today called upon all government ministries and agencies to integrate their services with the National e-Service Bus, which has facilitated interoperability, availability and reusability of government online services.
 
The already-integrated 30 services, including the NID system, birth and death registration system, pay fixation system, e-primary system, data analytics platforms have eased end users' easy access to it and reduced the cost of developing a database, they observed.
 
They made the observation at a workshop organized by the World Bank- financed Enhancing Digital Government and Economy (EDGE) Project of BCC, said a press release.
 
Chaired by ICT Secretary Md. Shamsul Arefin, the function held at the ballroom of Sonargaon Hotel was addressed, among others, by Executive Director of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) Ranajit Kumar, EDGE Project Director Md. Shakhawat Hossain, BCC Senior Technical Specialist Farhad Hossain.
 
General Manager of the Open Group India and President of the Association of Enterprise Architects Dr Pallab Saha presented a keynote at the function participated by officials of different ministries and organizations of the government.
 
"The verification of NID of 17.5 crore times so far using the National e-Service Bus has proven the efficacy of the platform, which ensures interoperability and availability of government services," said Arefin.
 
He mentioned that some government organisations have had to spend a substantial amount of money to gather information and develop databases separately required for various tasks.
 
If they established a connection with the National e-Service Bus, they could avoid the redundant effort and expense of developing databases that are already available on the platform, he added.
 
Arefin urged the government agencies to develop their software services in accordance with the guidelines and standards of the Bangladesh National Digital Enterprise Architecture (BNDA) and integrate them with the National e-Service Bus that would streamline operations, improve data sharing, and foster a more cohesive digital ecosystem across the government.
 
With the objective of developing a whole-of-government approach, the BNDA platform aims at bringing uniformity in software which is now separately developed by different government agencies so that interoperability is possible, he added.
