Tipu asks officers to work with honesty and efficiency

DHAKA, June 28, 2021 (BSS) - Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said government officials need to work with honesty and efficiency to improve quality of service.
 
“It is important to enhance the quality of service to strengthen our position in the competitive world trade. For this, government officials have to work with honesty and efficiency as well as make maximum use of digital methods,” he said.
 
He said while speaking as the chief guest at the signing of Annual Performance Agreement (APA) and Shuddhachar (Integrity) Award giving ceremony for the departments and agencies under the Ministry at the meeting room of the Ministry of Commerce at the Secretariat on Monday.
 
The commerce minister said APA creates responsibility for government officials.
 
 “We hope that the officials of the Ministry of Commerce and the subordinate agencies will fulfill that responsibility by working with efficiency and reputation,” he adde.
 
He further said that the government is encouraging the work of the officers and employees by giving them the Integrity Award.

He hoped that APA would play an important role in the successful implementation of the budget for the fiscal year 2021-2022.
 
He also said the government has introduced APA to increase institutional capacity.
 
The commerce minister mentioned that it will be possible to establish an effective, efficient and dynamic administrative system through this agreement.

Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh signed the annual performance agreement on behalf of the ministry.
 
Chairman of Bangladesh Tea Board Major General Mohammad Zahirul Islam, Director General of National Consumer Rights Protection Department  Bablu Kumar Saha, Vice Chairman of Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) AHM Ahsan, Registrar in the Directorate of Joint Capital Companies and Firms of Sheikh Soebul Alam, Chief Comptroller of Imports and Exports Solaiman Khan and Chairman of  Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) Brigadier General Mohammad Ariful Hasan signed the agreement on behalf of other organizations.
 
Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) Chairman Brigadier General Mohammad Ariful Hasan, Joint-Secretary (Export) of the Ministry of Commerce Mohammad Abdur Rahim and computer operator Tanzina Haque received the Integrity Award for the fiscal year 2020-2021.
 
 The Commerce Minister handed over the prizes to the winners.
 
Among others, chairperson of the Bangladesh Competition Commission Mofizul Islam was present at the function.
