DHAKA, July 29, 2024 (BSS) - Stocks today extended its losing streak as the
risk-averse investors preferred to book profit on quick-gaining shares.
DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), closed the day with
53.48 points down and settled at 5,330.24 points. The DS30 index, comprising
blue chips, fell 18.51 points to finish at 1,902.74 and the DSE Shariah Index
(DSES) closed the day with 11.30 points down to close at 1,166.42.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Taka 4,501.83
million on the premier bourse, which was Taka 4,883.87 million at the
previous session of the week.
Out of 392 issues traded, 333 closed lower, 27 remained higher and 32 others
remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
AGNISYSL became the most-traded stock, followed by ORIONINFU, NRBBANK,
SQURPHARMA and GEMINISEA.
TECHNODRUG was the day's top gainer, soaring 9.89 per cent while EPGL was the
worst loser, losing three per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also fell sharply with the CSE All Share
Price Index (CASPI) losing 113.02 points to settle at 15,273.58 and its
Selective Categories Index (CSCX) shedding 67.05 points to close at 9,201.66.
Of the issues traded, 167 declined, 27 advanced and 25 issues remained
unchanged.
The port-city bourse traded 38.40 lakh shares and mutual fund units with a
turnover value of Taka 20.82 crore.
