DHAKA, July 30, 2024 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses-- Dhaka Stock
Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)-- today plunged due to
mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 60.72
points or 1.13 percent to 5,269.53. Two other indices also ended sharply
lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 20.89 points to
finish at 1,88.86 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 14.86 points to close
at 1,151.55.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Taka 4,326.96
million, which was Taka 4,501.83 million at the previous session of the week.
Out of 397 issues traded, 340 declined, 25 advanced and 32 remained unchanged
on the DSE trading floor.
TECHNODRUG was the day's top gainer, posting 9.98 percent gain while
PADMALIFE was the worst loser, losing 10.26 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All
Share Price Index - CASPI -losing 132.19 points to settle at 15,141.39 and
the Selective Categories Index - CSCX shedding 80.53 points to close at
9,121.12.
Of the issues traded, 165 declined, nine advanced and 20 issues remained
unchanged on the CSE trading floor.
The port city's bourse traded 27.92 lakh shares and mutual fund units with
turnover value worth about Taka 9.58 crore.
