DHAKA, Sept 1, 2024 (BSS) - The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) has applauded the interim government for taking the decision to reduce the prices of fuel oil at all stages adjusting with the international market.
DCCI President Ashraf Ahmed believes that due to this timely decision of the government, the cost of production of products in the agricultural and industrial sectors would be reduced as well as a positive effect would be seen in the transport sector, said a press release.
In recent times, due to the high cost of energy in the industrial sector and lack of uninterrupted electricity and gas supply, the cost of production and marketing of industrial products has increased, resulting in an increase in the overall cost of doing business in the country.
Locally, the high price of energy fueled inflation that subsequently increased the cost of living and suffering of the common people.
Through this initiative of slashing the price of energy, the cost of production in the industries would come down to some extent which will help increase the competitiveness in the global competitive market.
The DCCI also hoped that this initiative would play an effective role in bringing down inflation.
