DHAKA, Sept 4, 2024 (BSS) – Association of Bankers Bangladesh (ABB) Chairman Selim RF Hussain today informed that Bangladesh Bank (BB) will form three task forces to improve the current situation of the country’s banking sector.
“Three taskforces will be formed on the issues of non-performing loans management, strengthening project and legal framework to continue and accelerate the reforms undertaken by the new governor,” he told reporters after the meeting with BB Governor Dr Ahsan H Mansur at the central bank headquarters in the city.
In his speech, Selim said the time required for the formation of these task forces has not yet been decided.
Experts from domestic and international institutions will be kept in these task forces, he added.
He said this task force will be of international standard and experts from World Bank and International Monetary Fund may be included.
He, however, informed that the central bank will focus on legal framework as well as manpower and efficiency to bring down classified loans.
“During the meeting, we discussed on classified loans which have increased exponentially,” he added.
