DHAKA, Sept 25, 2024 (BSS) - Industries Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan today said the government is working to make the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) more active and vibrant.
"More employment opportunities will be created through the establishment of small and medium industries. So, we need more support from the World Bank," he said while meeting with representatives of World Bank Regional and Global Director at the Ministry of Industries in the city, said a press release.
Representatives of the World Bank informed that they are working in different sectors of Bangladesh. The World Bank wants to work with the Ministry of Industries more closely in upcoming days, they mentioned.
They suggested installation of solar panels for uninterrupted power supply to industries.
Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Industries Zakia Sultana also spoke on the occasion.
Zakia urged the World Bank to invest in small and medium industries, leather, fertilizer and sugar industries.
She said that the cooperation of the World Bank is needed to make the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) more effective.
Among others, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Industries Md Selim Ullah also attended on the occasion.
