DHAKA, Oct 2, 2024 (BSS) - The Board of Directors of the Chittagong Stock Exchange PLC (CSE) elected AKM Habibur Rahman as Chairman of the port city bourse in line with the Exchanges Demutualization Act, 2013.

All the Independent Directors and Shareholder Directors of the CSE unanimously elected him for the next three years at a Board meeting held today, said CSE press release.

Habibur Rahman would the replace Aisf Ibrahim as the CSE Chairman.

After resignation of all of the Independent Directors in August 2024, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) approved a list of seven independent directors.

As per the BSEC approval, Alamgir Morshed, Prof. Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, AKM Habibur Rahman, Dr. Mahmud Hassan, M Zulfiquar Hussain, Naznin Sultana and Farida Yasmin were approved as Independent Director of CSE.

Among them, Alamgir Morshed regretted to accept the appointment as Independent Director.
