DHAKA, Nov 13, 2024 (BSS) - The government today approved separate proposals for procuring some two cargos of LNG, 1,90,000 metric tons (MTs) of fertilizer and 50,000 MTs of wheat to meet the growing demand of the country.
The approval was given at the 12th meeting (2024) of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase (ACCGP) held here today at the Cabinet Division conference room at Bangladesh Secretariat.
Adviser to the Ministry of Finance Dr Salehuddin Ahmed chaired the meeting.
Following a proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) would procure some 30,000 MTs of TSP fertilizers from OCP Nutricrops, Morocco under the 8th lot for the fiscal year (FY25) with around Taka 149.40 crore with per ton fertilizer costing $415.
Under a proposal from the Ministry of Food, the government would procure some 50,000 MTs of wheat from M/S Aston Agro-Industrial SA, Switzerland under international tender method with around Taka 175.28 crore where per MT wheat would cost US$292.14.
Following a proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, the government would procure one cargo LNG from the spot market from M/S Vitol Asia Pte Ltd, Singapore with around Taka 666.57 crore where per MMBtu LNG would cost $14.13.
In response to another proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, the government would procure one cargo LNG from the spot market from M/S Total Energies Gas and Power Limited, Switzerland with around Taka 687.33 crore where per MMBtu LNG would cost $14.57.
Following a proposal from the Ministry of Industries, the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) would procure some 30,000 MTs of bulk granular urea fertilizer from SABIC Agri-nutrient Company, Saudi Arabia under the 6th lot for the fiscal year (FY25) with around Taka 137.76 crore with per ton fertilizer costing $382.67.
In response to another proposal from the Ministry of Industries, the BCIC would procure some 30,000 MTs of bulk granular urea fertilizer from SABIC Agri-nutrient Company, Saudi Arabia under the 7th lot for the fiscal year (FY25) with around Taka 133.50 crore with per ton fertilizer costing $370.83.
Following another proposal from the Ministry of Industries, the BCIC would procure some 30,000 MTs of bulk granular urea fertilizer from KAFCO under the 7th lot for the fiscal year (FY25) with around Taka 126.27 crore with per ton fertilizer costing $350.75.
Following another proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture, the BADC would procure some 30,000 MTs of TSP fertilizer from OCP Nutricrops, Morocco under the 9th lot for the fiscal year (FY25) with around Taka 150.30 crore with per ton fertilizer costing $417.50.
In response to another proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture, the BADC would procure some 40,000 MTs of TSP fertilizers from OCP, Morocco under the 8th lot with around Taka 286.80 crore with per ton fertilizer costing $597.50.
The ACCGP meeting also approved a procurement proposal of National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) under the Secondary and Higher Secondary Division for the printing, binding and supplying of 7,31,29,859 copies of text books for Ibtedai (1st, 2nd and 3rd class), Secondary (Bangla and English versions, 6th class), Dakhil (6th class) and Technical (6th class) education through 79 bidders with a cost of around Taka 287.62 crore.
The meeting also approved another procurement proposal of NCTB for the printing, binding and supplying of 5,33,31,787 copies of text books for Secondary (Bangla and English versions, 7th class), Dakhil (7th class) and Technical (7th class) education through 69 bidders with a cost of around Taka 240.32 crore.
