ICMAB recognizes organizations for best corporate practices

DHAKA, Nov 14, 2024 (BSS) - The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) today recognized 46 listed and non-listed organizations in 17 categories for their best corporate practices based on financial parameters and non-financial indicators.

 Winners of the ICMAB Best Corporate award are recognized with gold, silver and bronze positions.

A Jury Board chaired by Prof Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Anis A. Khan, President, Board of Trustees, Bangladesh Cancer Aid Trust - BANCAT and Muzaffar Ahmed, Executive President, Credit Rating Information and Services Ltd reviewed the approved list of winners, which was evaluated and recommended by 45 expert members of the evaluation team of the Institute, said a press release.

Dr Salehuddin Ahmed, Adviser, Ministry of Finance graced the occasion as the chief guest and handed over the awards to the winners at a gala event held at a city hotel.

Sk Bashir Uddin, Commerce Adviser, Md. Selim Uddin, Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, and Md. Abdur Rahman Khan, Secretary, Internal Resources Division (IRD) & Chairman, National Board of Revenue (NBR) graced the program as special guests.

 Distinguished guests from different ministries, trade bodies, regulators, stakeholders, and the awardees attended the ceremony. Arif Khan, Chairman of the Corporate Award Committee and past President of the Institute, delivered the welcome speech, while Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, President of ICMAB, delivered the presidential address.

 At the end, the secretary of the Institute, S.M. Zahir Uddin Haider offered a vote of thanks. Winners of ICMAB Best Corporate Awards: In the State-Owned Commercial Bank (SOCB) category, Sonali Bank PLC bagged gold position winner, Rupali Bank PLC silver position winner and Agrani Bank PLC became bronze position winner.

 In the private commercial bank category, BRAC Bank PLC secured gold position, Eastern Bank PLC secured silver position and Dutch Bangla Bank PLC secured bronze position.

 In the private commercial bank (Islamic Operation) category- Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC won Gold position. In the Non-Bank Financial Institution (NBFI) category, IDLC Finance PLC won the gold position, DBH Finance PLC won the silver position and IPDC Finance PLC won the bronze position.

 In the non-life insurance category, Sena Insurance PLC won the gold position, City Insurance PLC got the silver position and Reliance Insurance Limited won the bronze position.

 In the life insurance category: National Life Insurance PLC secured the gold position, Pragati Life Insurance Limited secured the silver position and Sandhani Life Insurance Company Limited secured the bronze position.

In the pharmaceuticals manufacturing category, Square Pharmaceuticals PLC won the gold position, Renata PLC won the silver position and Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd won the bronze position.

 In the cement manufacturing category, Lafarge Holcim Bangladesh PLC secured the gold position, Crown Cement PLC secured the silver position and Premier Cement Mills PLC secured the bronze position.

 In the garments-textile manufacturing category, Matin Spinning Mills PLC won the gold, Paramount Textile PLC won the silver and Square Textiles PLC won the bronze position.

 In the MNC manufacturing category, Marico Bangladesh Limited won the gold position, British American Tobacco Bangladesh PLC won the silver position and Reckitt Benckiser (Bangladesh) PLC won the bronze position.

 In the other manufacturing category BSRM Steels Limited hold the gold position, RAK Ceramics (Bangladesh) Limited hold the silver position and Social Marketing Company (SMC) hold the bronze position.

 In the power generation category, United Power Generation & Distribution Company Ltd got the gold position and Doreen Power Generations and Systems Ltd got the bronze position.

 In the oil, gas & energy category, Jamuna Oil Company Limited became gold position winner, Meghna Petroleum Limited became silver position winner and Padma Oil Company Limited became bronze position winner.

 In the NGO category BRAC got the gold position, icddr,b got the silver position and Action Aid- Bangladesh got the bronze position.

 In the agro & food processing category, Olympic Industries Limited got the gold position, Index Agro Industries Limited got the silver position and Agricultural Marketing Co Ltd got the bronze position.

 In the trading & assembly category, Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC secured the gold position, Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC (BSCPCL) secured the silver position.

 In the IT & Telecommunication (TELCO) category Grameenphone Ltd got the gold position and Robi Axiata PLC got the silver position.
