DHAKA, Nov 21, 2024 (BSS)- The government today approved separate proposals for procuring two cargos of LNG, 2.30 lakh metric tons of fertilizer and 50,000 metric tons of non-Basmati boiled rice in a bid to meet the growing demand of the country.

The approval was given today in meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase held at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.

Cabinet Division officials said, Petrobangla would procure one cargo LNG from M/S Vitol Asia Pte Ltd Singapore through international quotation at accost of Taka 686.39 crore where per MMBtu LNG would cost $14.55.

Petrobangla would procure another cargo LNG from M/S Vitol Asia Pte Ltd Singapore through international quotation with around Taka 680.25 crore where per MMBtu LNG would cost $14.42.

Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) would procure 30,000 metric tons of MOP fertilizer from Russian JSC Foreign Economic Corporation “Prodintorg” under state-level agreement with around Taka 104.31 crore.

BADC would also procure 40,000 metric tons of MOP fertilizer from Canadian Commercial Corporation under state-level agreement at a cost of Taka 139.08 crore.

BADC would purchase 40,000 metric tons of MOP fertilizer from Canadian Commercial Corporation under state-level agreement with around Taka 139.08 crore.

Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) would procure some 90,000 metric tons of bulk granular urea fertilizer and 30,000 metric tons of bulk prilled urea fertilizer.

The BCIC would purchase 30,000 metric tons of bulk granular urea fertilizer from Fertiglobe Distribution Limited, UAE with around Taka 128.99 crore.

BCIC would also purchase 30,000 metric tons of bulk granular urea fertilizer from Qatar Energy with around Taka 128.99 crore.

The BCIC would import 30,000 metric tons of bulk prilled urea fertilizer from SABIC Agri-nutrients Company Ltd, Saudi Arabia with around Taka 131.40 crore.

BCIC would procure 30,000 metric tons of bulk granular urea fertilizer from SABIC Agri-nutrients Company Ltd, Saudi Arabia with around Taka 128.99 crore.

Directorate General of Food would procure 50,000 metric tons of non-Basmati boiled rice from M/S SAEL Agri Commodities Ltd, India through international Open Tender Method (OTM) with around Taka 282.96 crore.

The meeting approved a proposal for appointing e-Learning and Earning Ltd, Dhaka as the training firm with around Taka 297.16 crore for conducting training to some 28,800 youths under a project.

Besides, the Purchase committee also approved two proposals one from the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and another from the Road Transport and Highways Division.
