Price fall in large-cap drives stocks further down

DHAKA, Nov 21, 2024 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- today plunged further due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 47.68 points or 0.91 percent to 5,197.58. Two other indices also ended sharply lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 15.59 points to finish at 1,919.05 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 10.97 points to close at 1,151.56.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Taka 3637.95 million, which was Taka 3930.752 million at the previous session of the week.

Out of 383 issues traded, 263 declined, 66 advanced and 54 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

MIDLANDBNK topped the turnover chart, followed by LOVELLO, BXPHARMA, ICB and EBL.
 
KBPPWBIL was the day's top gainer, posting 5.97 percent gain while 1STPRIMFMF was the worst loser, losing 9.77 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -losing 87.85 points to settle at 14,584.27 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX shedding 55.70 points to close at 8,879.91.

Of the issues traded, 132 declined, 45 advanced and 39 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city's bourse traded 4.34 million shares and mutual fund units with turnover value worth about Taka 125.81 million.
