Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

DHAKA, Nov 24, 2024 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange 
(DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)-- today plunged due to mainly price 
fall in large-cap securities.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 51.08 
points or 0.98 percent to 5,146.50. Two other indices also ended sharply 
lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 19.14 points to 
finish at 1,899.90 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 2.12 points to close 
at 1,149.43.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Taka 3,020.56 
million, which was Taka 3,637.95 million at the previous session of the week.

Out of 392 issues traded, 228 declined, 110 advanced and 54 remained 
unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

NRBBANK topped the turnover chart, followed by LOCELLO, FINEFOODS, GENEXIL 
and BEACHHATCH.
 
DOREENPWR was the day's top gainer, posting 9.75 percent gain while EPGL was 
the worst loser, losing 13.99 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All 
Share Price Index - CASPI -losing 165.16 points to settle at 14,419.11 and 
the Selective Categories Index - CSCX shedding 101.79 points to close at 
8,778.12.

Of the issues traded, 133 declined, 46 advanced and 31 issues remained 
unchanged on the CSE trading floor.

The port city's bourse traded 1.98 million shares and mutual fund units with 
turnover value worth about Taka 57.76 million.
