DHAKA, Nov 25, 2024 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - today plunged further due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 10.37 points or 0.20 percent to 5,136.13. Two other indices also ended sharply lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 3.16 points to finish at 1,896.74 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 1.94 points to close at 1,147.49.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, increased to Taka 3,198.14 million, which was Taka 3,020.56 million at the previous session of the week.
Out of 394 issues traded, 163 declined, 148 advanced and 83 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
BSC topped the turnover chart, followed by LOVELLO, BEACHHATCH, ICB and MIDLANDBNK.
EMERALDOIL was the day's top gainer, posting 9.80 percent gain while GHCL was the worst loser, losing 10 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -losing 23.09 points to settle at 14,396.02 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX shedding 11.84 points to close at 8,766.27.
Of the issues traded, 105 declined, 95 advanced and 33 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city's bourse traded 2.24 million shares and mutual fund units with turnover value worth about Taka 60.97 million.
